    Position Summary

    The Maintenance Manager will lead a 24 x 7 team of direct reports and is responsible for all equipment in our Gluten Free Bakery and Granola commercial manufacturing plants.  Flexibility including weekend work and off-hours troubleshooting in support of team needs is critical. This is a working manager role. 


    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Developing and managing all maintenance systems, preventive maintenance and other maintenance/safety related programs, etc.
    • Reducing equipment downtime and repetitive failures, and ensuring root-cause analysis techniques are used to facilitate problem solving activities. Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.  Evaluates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Assures effective and efficient utilization of assigned labor, equipment, and repair parts to maintain control of maintenance costs.
    • Interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
    • Establishing or adjusts work procedure to meet production schedules.
    • Recommending design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions or to improve safety, quality or equipment operating parameters.
    • Researching and costing project proposals to determine feasibility, payback and equipment design.
    • Recommending and implementing process improvement initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies, and process reliability.
    • Leading the team to achieve strategic goals and objectives.
    • Teaching, coaching, training, developing and mentoring the members of the team to:
      • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain bakery manufacturing equipment and building.
      • Prepare and maintain documentation on operational equipment efficiency.
      • Follow and enforce procedures outlined in plans/manuals.
    • Interpreting company policies to workers and enforces OSHA, FDA and company safety regulations.
    • Maintaining open, continuous communication with cross-functional counterparts.
    • Conducting safety training and ensure compliance with all company policies, plant rules and regulations.
    • Following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits.
    • Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring. This individual acknowledges as part of the management team, are responsible for food safety and quality at the Boulder Brand’s Udi’s Facilities.
    • In the instance this individual is absent from the facility and cannot be reached, their backup defaults to the individual that this individual reports to.
    • Perform other duties as may be required and/or assigned.


    Essential Requirements

    • HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems
    • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Root Cause Failure Analysis, and Key Performance Indicators
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Must have experience with PLC's
    • Basic working knowledge of personal computers and MS Office Software.
    • Must be flexible and available to work nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a 24 x 7 commercial bakery manufacturing operation.
    • Applicants must be able to communicate and work effectively with all employees.
    • All applicants must have the ability to stand and/or stoop for the full shift.
    • Have the ability to climb onto overhead structures and on top of equipment.


    Education and/or Experience:  

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field preferred
    • 10+ years of maintenance experience in a commercial bakery or food manufacturing plant leading a team of maintenance technicians in a multi-shift, fast-paced manufacturing environment
    • Experience with high speed equipment, bakery a plus
