    SCOPE OF POSITION:

    This position is responsible for planning, organizing and maintaining corporate sanitation policies, procedures, and activities. The position will ensure plant facilities implement policies and procedures as applicable and ensure full compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements. The sanitation manager will provide technical assistance and service to plant locations in support of the sanitation objectives.  The Sanitation Manager will be responsible for multiple plants.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Troubleshooting and implementing sanitation improvement action plans for Pinnacle facilities
    • Assist in conducting corporate food safety and sanitation audits across the Pinnacle facilities
    • Actively participate in external third party audits and assessments
    • Conduct sanitation training in the 6-step process for plant personnel
    • Direct and facilitate the activities of the Plant Sanitation Managers and Supervisors to assure compliance to affiliate, regulatory, GMP, GSP, and best industry sanitation standards and practices
    • Perform quarterly sanitation/pest control audits at applicable facilities to ensure progress in sanitation programs and assure adequate short and long term corrective actions
    • Assist with troubleshooting microbiological issues as they arise
    • Assist in developing strategic sanitation plans and initiatives
    • Maintain the corporate Sanitation Manual and all sanitation policies and procedures in a manner to assure efficiency and effectiveness to affiliate and best industry standards
    • Develop and implement continual improvement sanitation systems, policies, and procedures
    • Actively participate with the chemical supplier to provide continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities
    • Provide guidance to plants on appropriate staffing levels and maximize and optimize sanitation labor utilization. Works with plants on reducing sanitation time and downtime
    • In collaboration with Food Safety Directors, plant Quality Managers and Sanitation Supervisors; assess, plan and develop, implement, and evaluate sanitation needs across the company
    • Ensures the safety of all associates through coaching sanitation employees
    • Lead special projects in sanitation as assigned

    Qualifications

     

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    • A minimum of five years in a food processing environment
    • Experience with equipment in a processing and packaging environment required
    • Familiar with sanitation RTE standards, chemical usage and dry and wet cleaning techniques
    • Successful candidate will possess the ability to work in a team environment
    • Position requires good communication and technical skills and attention to detail
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

     

    EDUCATION:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or other relevant fields of study is required
    • Any relevant certification in Food Safety and Sanitation is preferred

     

    TRAVEL:

    • There is a 75% travel requirement with this position
