    SCOPE OF POSITION:


    This position is responsible for planning, organizing, executing, and maintaining all plant sanitation policies, procedures, and activities. The position oversees the activities of the Sanitation Supervisors and production team members carrying out sanitation inspection and cleaning assignments. The Sanitation Manager will be accountable for the day to day management of sanitation operations. This individual will ensure the plant is in full compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements. The individual hired for this role provides technical support and service to manufacturing in support of the operations objectives. The Sanitation Manager is a key member of the management team at the facility.

     

    The Sanitation Manager will be responsible for multiple plants.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Plan and execute daily, weekly, and Master Sanitation inspection and cleaning activities.
    • Conduct sanitation training for all plant personnel
    • Direct and facilitate the activities of the sanitation team members to assure compliance to affiliate, regulatory, GMP, GSP, and best industry sanitation standards and practices
    • Procure and maintain an adequate supply of cleaning chemicals and supplies within budgetary requirements
    • Maintain the plant’s Sanitation Manual, Master Sanitation Schedule, and all sanitation policies and procedures in a manner as to assure efficiency and effectiveness to affiliate and best industry standards.
    • Develop and implement continual improvement sanitation systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Actively participate in internal sanitation and GMP self-assessment processes and assure adequate short and long term corrective actions
    • Actively participate in external third party audits
    • Coordinate and plan down day sanitation activities and projects
    • Provide continual leadership and guidance to team members for the purpose of increasing their effectiveness and establishing good working relationships
    • Actively promote plant and sanitation safety programs and procedures that are in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
    • Actively promote adherence to corporate Quality, Sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards to achieve a finished product within quality control specifications
    • Assure accurate and timely documentation of all sanitation and cleaning activities
    • Manage staffing levels within operating plan and maximize and optimize sanitation labor utilization
    • Assign responsibilities to team members for the cleaning of production equipment and the facility Apply disciplinary actions in accordance with plant policies and procedures
    • Responsible for the daily supervision of the plant sanitation associates, including training and development, assessment and motivation of associates (Includes conducting annual performance reviews and establishment of measurable objectives for associates)
    • Maintains and communicates information of plant operations at staff meetings
    • Understands each associate’s job. Works with them on reducing sanitation time and downtime
    • Implements and maintains quality and sanitation improvement plans, policies procedures, and programs, which are endorsed by the Plant Superintendent and Facility Manager
    • In collaboration with other Supervisors, assess, plan and develop, implement, and evaluate production and operational needs
    • Ensures the safety of all associates
    • Follows up on all production, sanitation, and operational issues to resolution
    • Assists in developing daily, weekly and annual strategic sanitation and operation plans and initiatives
    • Responsible for developing and planning for full-time and seasonal positions and scheduling sanitation employees for the next day work assignments
    • Performs special projects as assigned

    Qualifications

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    • A minimum of two to three years in a food processing environment
    • Processing and packaging experience is a plus
    • Ability to work as part of a large team, in a team environment
    • Position requires good communication and technical skills and attention to detail
    • Equipment knowledge of Wrenches, Foamers, High Pressure Water Hoses, Cleaning Rags, Buckets, Hose Guns, Safety and Sanitation PPE, and other cleaning tools
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Has the ability to work in a flexible schedule
    • Be able to work in cold and wet conditions


    EDUCATION:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or other relevant fields of study is required
    • Any relevant certification in Food Safety and Sanitation is preferred

     

    TRAVEL:

    • There is a 25% travel requirement with this position
