    The Director-Supplier Quality Assurance will implement Pinnacle Foods Supply Chain policies concerning supplier approval in full accordance with SQF 2000 requirements. Suppliers include packaging, ingredient, pouched food items for insertion supplier for use in food manufacturing or assembly by Pinnacle Foods. The Director-Supplier Quality Assurance is accountable to maintain records in evidence of each supplier’s risk assessment and approval decision in addition to resource approvals within Product Vision specifications workflows. Scope of work includes planning, scheduling, performing audits, assessing effectiveness of supplier food safety programs and documentation, establishing and communicating corrective actions with follow up as required to support the business needs.


    The Director-Supplier Quality Assurance will report to the Vice President of Food Safety and Quality.




    • Direct supervision and training of supplier approval specialists
    • Plans and organizes work and establishes priorities for subordinate work
    • Conducts first party audits; reviews and appraises third party supplier audits for food safety, quality and regulatory compliance for both suppliers and co-packers in accord with Pinnacle Foods policy and procedures
    • Works with Procurement to establish and maintain vendor rating systems using SCAR reports
    • Manage Pre-qualification mandatory document review, audit scheduling, conducting audits, documenting and communicating audit results, tracking and corrective actions, corrective actions closure including verification and SCAR process administration for suppliers
    • Assists in maintaining approved supplier registers
    • Provide training, information and support to suppliers to meet Pinnacle Foods Supplier and Co-packer policy manual requirements
    • Ensure compliance to all Good Manufacturing and Food Safety & Quality Management System requirements
    • Ensure compliance to all federal, state and local regulatory requirements
    • Develop and deliver Food Safety & Quality Management System training curricula
    • Develop and manage the supplier standards and protocol for the production plants
    • Maintain and communicate Food Safety & QA information/data to appropriate plant and corporate staff
    • Oversee and execute all raw material, in-process, finished product and environmental testing plans
    • Participate in all external third party audits and regulatory inspections 
    • Ensure the appropriate maintenance and retention of all Food Safety & Quality Management System records and forms
    • Follow up on Food Safety, Quality and Process Control issues, ensuring successful resolution including effective use of Root Cause Analyses and Corrective and Preventative Action tools
    • Participate in corporate and plant driven projects related to Food Safety & Quality improvement, MVP, and commercialization




    • 12+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety for CPG or food manufacturing
    • 10 years of experience managing QA and Food Safety in a food manufacturing environment
    • Experience in conducting inspections, audits, and program reviews and familiar with third party inspection/audit models
    • Experience developing and managing pathogen control & environmental monitoring programs is desired
    • Formal auditor training or certification is desired
    • Some multiple manufacturing experiences under both FDA and FSIS regulated foods or food ingredients
    • HACCP trained, SQF Practitioner and versed in other accepted GFSI certification schemes is desired.
    • Experience managing to FDA regulations
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team environment
    • Good collaboration and oral and written communication skills
    • Strong technical skills and attention to detail
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule


    • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or relevant field, required
    • Master’s degree in Food Science or Microbiology, preferred


    There is a 40% travel requirement for this position
