    SCOPE OF POSITION:

    The Manager of Direct Procurement is viewed as a key member of the Procurement, Product Development and Manufacturing teams. This person is part of a team that will work on a key area of development for Pinnacle Foods--developing and executing the Category and Sourcing Strategies for key Direct Material Portfolios.

    Manager will be responsible for handling Strategic Sourcing activities for a selected group of Categories.  He/she will develop Category Strategies, evaluate existing and potential supply for lowest total cost (TCO); implement a strategic sourcing approach while ensuring highest quality and service performance.   He/she will manage new product introductions and other project management work as necessary. 

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop Category Strategies and execute Strategic Sourcing activities for Direct Materials Portfolio.
    • Negotiate supply agreements and contracts. Develop cost models (clean sheet) and incorporate structured price risk management and supply contingency planning within sourcing strategies and clearly articulated in supply agreements for effective risk mitigation in compliance with corporate policies, goals and objectives.
    • Maintain knowledge of ingredient markets, supply and demand drivers of assigned ingredients and their impact on prices, key industry trends and market dynamics
    • Works on financial planning including developing pricing forecasts and budget assumptions to meet financial planning calendar and has accountability for productivity and cash flow contributions.
    • Identify, recommend and lead pipeline of strategic productivity projects and other procurement initiatives, providing scope of work, benefits and resource plan
    • Track and report on performance measures such as service level compliance, quality conformity and cost. Benchmark performance between various suppliers and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Builds platform to effectively work with R&D to identify and match business needs with supplier capabilities to drive strong business partnerships through supplier challenges, relationship development and through sharing of the business priorities and innovation capabilities within supply industry.
    • Maintains strong linkages with stakeholders in R&D, External Manufacturing, Manufacturing, Commercialization and other Supply Chain functions to ensure alignment on goals and directs their respective activities accordingly.

    Qualifications

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience in strategic sourcing (including strategy definition and leading contract negotiations) and have a proven background of sustained cost improvement.
    • Has demonstrated success in creating and implementing strategic procurement plans, creative problem solving, contract negotiating and supplier relationship building.
    • Leading and managing teams; demonstrated/developing capability in developing talent and achieving their goals.
    • Experience with using E-sourcing tools to manage projects, contracts, RFX, and reverse auction, and to perform linear decision analysis.
    • Has successfully developed and implemented effective business strategies which call for coordination of activity across multiple functional areas.
    • Strong financial/analytical acumen.
    • Independently motivated.

    • Ability to influence, collaborate and interact with numerous levels of the organization.
    • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills that influence and persuaded others.

    EDUCATION:

    • Must possess a BS/BA degree in Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Business, Engineering or related fields.
    • MBA/CPSM preferred.

    • Up to 25%
