    Summary of Position:

    The ideal candidate for the Sr. Director, Business Development Boulder is able to:

    • Drive the development of annual business and customer plans by brand that deliver key performance targets of net sales, net realized price and mix.
    • Champion and closely monitor all new item launches, pricing strategy execution, customer plans, etc.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

    • Act as Sales/Trade expert on assigned categories and represent sales function in the development of all trade/sales strategies/tactics relating to respective categories.
    • Lead cross functional team in order to ensure superior execution of yearly trade planning process – from concept to execution.
    • Champion effort with Marketing and Category Mgmt. to develop launch plans and retailer communication for new products and marketing plans, leveraging consumer and customer insights to build compelling presentations.
    • Develop simple and flexible trade programs for assigned categories and provide guidance to field sales for maximum ROI.
    • Manage the execution and pre/post analysis of promotions and develop best practice recommendations that improve promotion effectiveness.
    • Work closely with HQ Business Development and Sales Operations to ensure consistency of approaches across sales for all core processes, e.g. planning, tracking, measurement, reporting.
    • Provide leadership to the business planning and strategic planning process
    • Marshall and deploy cross functional resources to drive profitable business results.
    • Ensure barriers are removed to allow the selling teams to aggressively grow business unit revenues, profit and share and proactively identify strategic, longer term growth and profit opportunities for the business unit.
    • Ensure Boulder selling team executes against business building initiatives.
    • Translate category trade strategies into specific programs to achieve annual volume and profit plan.
    • Ensure consistency between acct. level strategies and overall brand strategies
    • Develop direct reports’ skills and experiences to prepare them for greater levels of responsibility.
    • Co-lead (with Brand Marketing) the forecasting (S&OP) of assigned brands.
    • Frequent communication with teams to support data collection, issue resolution and requests.



    Skills & Qualifications:

    • Minimum 10-12 years Consumer Package Goods Sales and/or Marketing.
    • Minimum 4-5 years of responsibility for trade spending management and analysis
    • Field selling experience.
    • Experience in organic/natural foods industry ideal.
    • Outstanding analytical skills, demonstrating an ability to recommend and implement business opportunities based on synthesizing data.
    • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast paced, highly matrixed and dynamic environment.
    • Sound record of successfully working across multiple disciplines within a company; field sales, brokers, finance, operations, marketing and trade marketing.
    • Success in mobilizing an organization against critical business priorities and ability to motivate an efficient and effective organization.
    • Previous experience working in both line and staff roles with a demonstrated ability to influence across functions/teams.


    • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA is a plus but not
