    The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will be required to work closely with the maintenance management, maintenance technicians, operations supervisors, operators, engineers and various suppliers on a daily basis in order to develop detailed job plans for corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance and minor project activities for production and facility equipment.


    The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will order parts, manage maintenance documentation, schedule maintenance, manage quoting activities and update information in the CMMS program. The planner will attend maintenance meetings in order to pass and obtain information to assist with the planning process. The planner will review work order requests, review work order completion notes, and initiate work orders as a result of preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, projects and safety inspection reports.





    Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

    • Follow all corporate, plant, and regulatory safety rules/procedures.
    • Initiate actions to maintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe environment in accordance with established HACCP program requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices.
    • Initial work request screening
    • Analysis of job requirements
      • Visits jobs sites
      • Determines job scope
    • Performs job research
      • Checks equipment history
      • Confers with engineer if required
    • Develops detailed job plan
          • Defines steps to be performed
          • Defines sequence of steps
          • Determines labor required (includes skills and estimate time)
          • Determine materials, special tools, and PPE (includes ordering and confirming on hand)
          • Estimate total planned cost
    • Job package preparation
      • Detailed work plan
      • Maintenance procedures, if applicable
      • Safety procedures
      • Permits
      • Change control requests, if applicable
      • Planned parts list
      • Prints, specifications, etc.
      • Verify kitted materials, special tools, and PPE
    • Manage a maintenance schedule for all maintenance work orders, planned system/facility outages, and special projects
      • Create a rolling multi-week maintenance schedule and a next week’s maintenance schedule
      • Work with craft workers, maintenance leadership, and operations to create and maintenance schedule
      • Communicate maintenance schedule to craft workers, maintenance leadership and operations
      • Monitor schedule performance, make necessary changes, and communicate 
      • Create and maintain scheduling meeting notes
    • Manage maintenance work order backlog
      • Assemble backlog by craft
      • Analyze to ensure that it stays in check
      • Ensure proper load leveling of preventive maintenance
    • Attend maintenance team meetings
    • Responsible for scheduling KPI tracking, trending and reporting
    • Responsible for work order follow-up including updating CMMS and initiating new work orders, if necessary
    • Responsible for all maintenance documentation management such as manuals, specification, spare parts lists, work plans and etc.
    • Attend maintenance team meetings

    • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.







    • In depth knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling. 
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulatory requirements.
    • Working knowledge of planner/scheduler relationship with respect to planning and executing work; and the proper documentation requirements for historic work analysis.
    • Multi-craft knowledge is required.
    • Craft skills are preferred.
    • 5- 7 years of craft experience in commercial and/or industrial construction or food or pharmaceutical manufacturing, repair or maintenance duties is desirable.
    • The following skills are required: Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal/written communication, problem solving, project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate and follow-up.
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs is required.
    • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is required. Experience with Infor EAM CMMS is preferred.
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs, CMMS programs and report writing required.
    • Ability to envision and communicate jobs as both mechanical aspects and abstract (time, tools, and space requirements) aspects.  
    • Ability to communicate at multiple levels both verbally and in writing.
    • To work in a team environment.
    • To work cohesively with different types of people at all levels in the organization.
    • To convey information in an understandable manner with maintenance staff, engineers, suppliers and operations.
    • Must be able to use and apply mathematics for problem solving.
    • Must be able to read industrial electrical schematics and blue prints.
    • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate skill, initiative and judgment to make and accept responsibility for decisions.
    • Must be able to utilize a CMMS to pull assigned work, research asset history and document work details.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.




    • Completion of a two year technical college degree program or equivalent work experience.
    • A license in a skilled trade (i.e. electrical, plumbing or HVAC) is preferred.
    • Formal training certificate in planning/scheduling, reliability based maintenance, purchasing and budgeting is preferred.
    • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT) is certification preferred.
