SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible to supply financial support and reporting to plant operations. Responsible for providing timely and accurate information as well as thorough analysis to foster a proactive approach to managing the cost of production.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production and Yield Reporting: Enters daily production into BPCS and closes shop orders. Generates weekly yield reports. Provides yield analysis as requested.
  • Inventory: Monitors cycle count process and assists with reporting. Prepares reserves for inventory obsolescence. Processes transactions timely.
  • Product Cost: Maintains cost system, BOMs, routings, develops standard cost.
  • Payroll processing: Processes/reviews payroll for both hourly union and non-union and submits it to corporate. Works with HR and supervisors/team leads to ensure accuracy of data in timekeeping and payroll systems. Ensures that union dues/fees deductions are deducted from union employee’s checks per the monthly union dues/fees invoice. Ensures temporary employee agency billings are correct.
  • Labor reporting: Prepares the daily flash direct labor report. Prepares weekly labor reports. Helps to analyze labor misses and opportunities for improvement.
  • Scorecard: Prepares financial portion of weekly warehouse and plant scorecards.
  • Accounts Payable: Works with corporate A/P and local PO writers to resolve discrepancies between invoices and POs. Ensures received not paid items, open invoices vouchers, and open POs are current. Ensures sales tax code on POs is correct..
  • Fixed Asset Management: Interfaces with engineer to report capital spending and provide corporate accounting with the asset additions and disposals. Maintains the capital in progress account. Assists with savings justification for capital projects.
  • Monthly close process: Assist the Plant Controller with the monthly close process and generate/post journal entries. Analyze and report on variances and their root causes. Perform account reconciliations. Various reporting.
  • Internal Controls: Supports all SOX controls and audits.
  • Planning process: Assist the Plant Controller in the completion of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and quarterly forecast updates (LE).
  • Productivity: Partners with Plant Controller and CI function in the identification and analysis of performance improvement opportunities. Works with cross functional team to achieve gains. Ensures that identified and implemented projects yield gains to plant costs.
  • Completes governmental surveys and the annual corporate tax package.
  • Performs other accounting and office duties as needed. 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum of 2 years accounting experience including product costing and inventory controls.
  • Manufacturing plant accounting experience preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, proficient in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.
  • Possesses good judgement and an ability to analyze data and information in order to make effective and timely decisions.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels and functions of the organization.
  • Knowledge of proper accounting controls.
  • Familiarity with financial management and query/reporting systems, such as BPCS, EAM, and Essbase as well as Payroll/TimeKeeping systems such as Peoplesoft and Kronos.
  • Ability to seek innovative approaches to resolving problems.
  • Solid problem solving, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency and attention to deadlines.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of job to enhance accuracy and speed.
  • Ability to adapt well to change and accept new projects, assignments, etc., as needed. 
  • Displays a commitment to results and accepts accountability for own performance.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance.
  • MBA and/or CPA is a plus.
