SCOPE OF POSITION:

 

The Category Analyst will work collaboratively with the Director of Category Management and/or Sales Managers for the Walmart Team, supporting the team with data analysis, sales trends and consumer insights to effectively grow our brands at Walmart.  The individual will utilize multiple data sources including syndicated data and Walmart Retail Link data to glean category trends, develop and maintain monthly reports, perform advanced analytics and take a lead role in the development of presentations to support executable customer selling strategies especially, as it relates to shelving, merchandising, assortment and retail pricing (SMART) objectives.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Utilize Walmart Retail Link data to glean category and consumer insights.
  • Develop and maintain weekly/monthly management reports recapping IRI, Nielsen, and POS sales trends.
  • Utilize Spectra, IRI, Nielsen and other consumer centric data tools to build selling stories and store of the community opportunities for our brands both on an everyday and seasonal basis.
  • Support the Category Manager or Sales Managers in providing post promotional analysis for events to include selling highlights, opportunities, price point effectiveness and recommendations for improvement going forward.
  • Conduct store audits periodically in Walmart and other customers to find growth opportunities for our brands.
  • Support the Category Manager or Sales Managers in managing forecasts as necessary utilizing customers POS and inventory tools as a guide.
  • Lead the development of selling presentations as necessary to support the ongoing development of the business.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business or Marketing required

  

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 Experience within consumer products industry preferred.
  • Experience with Walmart Retail Link, IRI and or Nielsen data resources required.

 

SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES:

  • Experience with Walmart Retail Link POS data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Spectra and IRI, Nielsen data
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful professional with practical experience and understanding of sales, deduction management, and/or trade marketing processes.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize under pressure.
