Responsibilities

SCOPE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for managing production activities on a production line. The scope of this position includes all phases of production, including processing, packaging, case packing, and palletizing. The Production Intern will also have direct oversight of all hourly employees in an assigned area and shift.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned

 

  • Supervise all production activities in accordance with corporate and plant policies, programs, and standards concerning safety, quality, service levels and cost
  • Provide continual leadership and guidance to team members for the purpose of increasing their effectiveness and establishing good working relationships
  • Actively promote plant safety and environmental programs and procedures that are in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
  • Fully implement and maintain SQF III Certified System requirements, including training verification, within area of responsibility
  • Actively promote adherence to plant quality system, sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards to achieve a finished product within quality control specifications
  • Assign responsibilities to team members, as required to meet planned production schedules 
  • Ensure training is completed to levels that drive operational efficiency
  • Investigate production delays and takes corrective action as necessary
  • Keep management informed of the status of production and promptly notify appropriate member(s) of management of issues impacting food safety, food quality, or production
  • Complete an assigned MVP continuous improvement project within the 14 week employment period.
  • Perform all functions within the scope of The Lean Pinnacle Way – Pinnacle’s Continuous Improvement methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish objectives with a laser focus on the right results.
  • Demonstrated bias toward a high sense of urgency and speed to completion without cutting corners.
  • Leads with an infectiously positive approach
  • Able to have a positive influence across levels and functions.
  • Must be willing to relocate to a Pinnacle Foods facility for full-time placement upon graduation.  

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Prior supervisory experience and / or experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Experience working with Continuous Improvement methodologies, preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.   Displays initiative and takes ownership of work
  • Must be a confident self-starter who is comfortable overcoming obstacles & driving decisions from areas of ambiguity
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
  • Able to use MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Candidates should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate Operations Management, Industrial Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2018 or May 2019. GPA of 3.0+ preferred.

 

  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position provides direct supervision to production personnel. In the absence of other functional leadership (i.e. Maintenance, Warehouse, etc.), the intern may be required to provide assistance and direction to ensure work continues and is completed as needed for the business. The intern will be responsible for communicating to their immediate manager of situations that arise.
