    Responsibilities

     

    This position will lead Production Operation for Second Shift Manufacturing, while supporting the development and implementation of a long term strategic plan for a lean manufacturing environment that lowers production costs, and improve efficiency. The candidate for this position will report directly to the Operations Manager.  This position will provide cross-functional leadership support to all departments on second shift.
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Develop and execute plant production strategies in accordance with the Lean Pinnacle Way
    • Manages all Second Shift Production resources to achieve and maintain plant targets and goals
    • Facilitates Kaizen events, 6 S efforts, and liaises with other department leaders in the plant
    • Implements cost savings improvement projects
    • Manages and implements Food Safety/Quality Control and Occupational Safety initiatives


    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

     

    • Demonstrated ability to positively impact the safety culture and safety performance of an operation. 
    • Demonstrated ability to improve the food safety and quality parameters of an organization.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead all areas of manufacturing in a fast-paced, food production plant
    • Demonstrated ability to complete cost savings projects
    • Manage staffing levels to current labor contract / labor standard requirements
    • Hold employees accountable for performance and apply disciplinary actions in accordance with plant policies and procedures
    • Promote an environment conducive to teams, teamwork, and line-driven accountability
    • Lead an organization through strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a matrix organization
    • Ability to manage a complex budget and adhere to cost plans and annual plant initiatives
    • Strong analytical skills using tools such as statistics, downtime tracking, mechanical history, project planning to identify  and resolve opportunity areas
    • Creative in problem solving and innovative approaches to resolve complex problems
    • Microsoft Office skills such as PowerPoint, Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook
    • Ability to quickly come up to speed on complex production processes and work with others to identify opportunity areas via data
    • Strong ability to lead effectively and develop subordinates for advancement opportunities
    • Ability to partner with other departments to resolve complex problems and work jointly to find solutions
    • Understanding of Continuous Improvement processes such as the Lean Pinnacle Way and the demonstrated ability to advance the organization through these efforts
    • Demonstrated ability to engage the workforce to improve quality and safety initiatives
    • Ensure training is completed to levels that drive operational efficiency
    • Demonstrated ability to accomplish objectives with a laser focus on the right results
    • Demonstrated bias toward a high sense of urgency and speed to completion without cutting corners
    • Leads with an infectiously positive approach
    • Able to have a positive influence across levels and functions
    • Complete special projects, duties and assignments, as appropriate 
    • Skill set and desire to pursue upward movement in manufacturing leadership.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Required to lead Team Manager direct reports. 
    • Oversee production department of approximately 200 hourly employees
    • Provide leadership support to other departments including quality control, maintenance, prime materials, produce receiving and warehousing.

    Qualifications


    EXPERIENCE:

     

    • Five (5) or more years of leading employees in a manufacturing environment, required
    • Experience in a food production/packaging environment, preferred
    • Experience working with Continuous Improvement methodologies, preferred 


    EDUCATION:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field –required
    • Masters’ degree in related field – preferred
