SCOPE OF POSITION:

Oversee execution of all CI activities and develop the capability of the plant team to execute CI activities through training, coaching, etc., lead performance improvement activities, and represent the plant in cross functional efforts. Leadership of change management initiatives

Responsibilities

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Achievement of plant MVP commitment
  • Train and lead cross-functional continuous improvement teams; focusing on measurable quality, service and cost improvements
  • Implements a formal lean / six sigma program that focuses on reducing process and product variation.
  • Implements such tools as: SPC, Process Capability, Pareto analysis, Fishbone, SMED, DOE, 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM and Kaizen events
  • On time, on budget execution of improvement activities and sustained achievement of benefits
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/ business challenges and create and maintain process documentation
  • Manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality and cost.
  • Adherence of plant to CI program standards
  • Adherence of plant to training and reliability program standards
  • Development and use of CI/management system tools by plant personnel
  • Plant performance: safety, quality, delivery, cost
  • Work closely with Operations Management, Plant Manager, and Human Resources to establish a team culture at the lines
  • Ensures full compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Project responsibilities – 15-25% of time spent leading projects, 20-40% of time spent planning and managing projects and 40-65% of time spent building capabilities

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated success leading the implementation of CI toolkits which, in turn resulted in significant business benefits
  • Demonstrated success developing both direct reports and members of the plant team in the use of CI tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete cost savings projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to teach/coach CI concepts throughout the plant
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a matrix organization.   
  • Strong analytical skills using tools such as statistics, downtime tracking, mechanical history, project planning to identify opportunity areas
  • Creative in problem solving and innovative approaches to resolve complex problems
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to quickly come to speed on complex production processes and work with others to identify opportunities areas via data

 

SKILLS &EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Eight (8) plus years of experience in manufacturing. Food manufacturing experience preferred
  • Four (4) plus years of lean/CI execution experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two (2) plus years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Past experience in leading week long kaizen events in the areas of 5S, standard work, visual management, daily management, SMED and OEE gap closure.
  • Mastered and able to train on Lean Manufacturing.
  • Must be fully proficient in Six Sigma, SPC, project planning @ management, Reliability Engineering, problem solving, RCA, Change Management, procedure and job aid development.
  • Basic Proficiency in training program design and development.
  • Must have exposure to behavior based safety.
  • Maintenance/manufacturing/engineering/QA/QS experience preferred   

TRAVEL:

  • Less than 20% annual travel required for single plant responsibility. Travel could be greater with multi plant responsibilities

EDUCATION:

  •  Bachelor's in a technical field with an accreditation required. Black Belt accreditation in Lean and/or Six Sigma from rigorous program required.
