This position is responsible for providing customer service through maintaining balanced finished product inventories to ensure a top quality product can be shipped to customers accurately and promptly.

 

This position also provides both direct and indirect supervision, and is the principle contact for plant planning and  materials queries and concerns.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive business results through developing and executing action plans that improve results in the areas of safety, quality, service and cost.
  • Maintain an effective safety program that will eliminate obstacles and ensure employees perform their duties in a safely manner.
  • Analyze customer feedback and consumer complaints, utilizing data to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper receiving, storage and inventory of raw and packaging materials as required to meet production needs.
  • Interface with Supply Chain, manufacturing, and external warehouses, as required to accomplish service targets.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate quality policies and procedures, including product hold, rework and product traceability.
  • Promote an environment conducive to teams, teamwork, and line-driven accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Develop and maintain good communication processes with all other organizations and departments within the supply chain.
  • Analyze production plans and schedules to control and monitor the inbound flow of packaging and ingredients through the production process
  • Review weekly finite plant schedules soliciting changes to the schedule and upcoming production plans to maximize efficiency opportunities.
  • Monitor materials inventories to ensure complete availability of packaging supplies and ingredients; Maintain cost effective inventory levels and lead monthly physical inventories; Track booked vs. physical inventories, obsolete inventory and quality rejects; Monitor and take action to increase inventory turns and closely tracks safety stock levels, Manage obsolescence.
  • Work with Corporate Purchasing to source and establish vendor relationships, as well as when contracts expire or require updates or revisions.
  • Work with Corporate Purchasing and vendors to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues.
  • Maintain facility planning records and purchasing records, update pricing and contract parameters; Ensure raw material and packaging supply records and documents are kept current; and, prepare and publish periodic reports.
  • Comply with all Purchasing and Accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of management or supervisory experience in Materials Management, Logistics, Industrial Distribution Management, or equivalent, required.
  • Professional experience in a food manufacturing environment or food products industry, preferred.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement processes in a planning, purchasing or warehousing environment.
  • Experience driving business results in the areas of safety, quality, service and cost.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of people.
  • APICS Certification, preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to maintain high expectations for self and others, demonstrating a dedication for results.
  • Knowledge of computer applications as they relate to work, specifically Microsoft Office     Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word and Project) applications.
  • Ability to analyze information and to exhibit excellent judgment in making effective and timely decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, project management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Materials Management, Logistics, Industrial Distribution Management, or equivalent, required.
  • Master’s in Business Administration, or equivalent, preferred.
  • Excellent customer focus, both internal and external
