    • Analyzing existing manufacturing processes to identify waste, redundancy, process bottlenecks, safety issues, and other operational inefficiencies. Propose and develop solutions to these operational challenges.
    • Provide technical and functional expertise to operations personnel in an effort to improve performance and resolve chronic equipment issues.
    • Develop and manage both large and small capital projects from concept through implementation. Meet project cost, schedule, and objectives utilizing a mix of external contractors and internal maintenance personnel.
    • Execute strategies in an environment of conflicting expectations, fluctuating schedules, and extreme cost constraints.  
    • Conduct engineering studies to test and validate technologies, equipment, and processes.
    • Understand code compliance, power distribution, industrial automation, and other electrical systems. Be familiar with basic building codes, safety standards, and other relevant engineering information.
    • Understand USDA regulations and how they are enforced in the food industry.
    • Be able to read and create process flow diagrams, equipment installation/layout drawings, ammonia system P&IDs, construction prints, instrumentation diagrams, electrical one line diagrams, PLC ladder code, and other basic engineering documents.
    • Prepare equipment specifications, statements of work, construction & installation contracts, bid documents, project schedules, cost & payback analysis, and capital appropriation requests.
    • Understand basic ergonomic design related to food manufacturing environment during development of assigned projects.
    • Serve as “engineer on duty” 1 weekend per month and occasional holidays. Responsible for overall facility oversite, safety, and maintenance/engineering activities during these non-work periods. 


    • Computer Knowledge – Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Allen Bradley/Rockwell proficiency/familiarity required.




    Minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to include both verbal and written.
    • Strong analytical skills using tools such as statistics, downtime tracking, mechanical history, project planning, etc. to identify opportunity areas.
    • Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment.
    • Experience working in a food production facility a plus.
      • Ability to quickly come up to speed on complex production processes.
    • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously is required.

    Preferred qualification for this position are as follows, but not limited to:

    • Minimum of 5 years working in a high-speed industrial/manufacturing environment required. 10 years of relevant experience preferred.


    • BS in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
    • PE license or other relevant certifications a plus.
