SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Plant Controller is responsible to supply financial support and reporting to plant operations, prepares the annual budget and quarterly/monthly forecasts with operational personnel, and prepares weekly and monthly cost reports for management. This position manages all financial accounting activity for the plant and maintains internal controls.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of annuals goals that align with plant/company goals
  • Development and compliance with all company policies required to ensure consistent financial reporting, accurate reporting of asset values, and safeguarding of all company assets
  • Support of the Sarbanes-Oxley reporting and audit functions for the facility and ensuring compliance to SOX controls and Financial Policies in place
  • Management of the annual plant physical inventory (raw material, WIP and Finished Goods). Assisting the auditors (internal or external) with their review
  • Support of the annual plant accounting audit, internal and external. Preparation of all pre-audit schedules
  • Review of all plant capital requests, including review of DCF analysis
  • Management of an annual Fixed Asset cycle-count
  • Work with operations to complete a weekly plant financial scorecard and associated analysis Provide commentary at weekly review meeting
  • Review weekly yield results with operations and request explanation for all material variances
  • Completion of the plant month end closing. This includes the publication of the monthly Operational Review packet with analysis. Support the plant manager at monthly meetings
  • Management of the hourly payroll processing
  • Work with operations and procurement to develop the plant AOP
  • Monthly spending schedules by department
  • Capital spending plan by project
  • Development and analysis of product cost standards, including maintenance of BOM
  • Allocation of costs to work centers and ultimately to case costs
  • Analysis of new raw material costs
  • Formulation and yield variance calculations
  • Development of financial bridges to previous AOP and LE
  • Completion of the AOP review presentation and all standard reports
  • Work with operations and procurement to develop quarterly forecasts (LE)
  • Creation of monthly variances schedule
  • Completion of LE reviews presentation and all standard reports
  • Support the Plant Manager in all financial decisions or special assignments

Qualifications

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven management skills to manage a team of 2 to 3 Financial Analysts/Cost Manager
  • Strong ability to lead by influence and work across all functions of the business
  • Knowledge of all SOX and GAAP requirements
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and Accounting software
  • Ability to work with individuals at various levels in the organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • MBA or Master’s in Finance preferred
  • CPA preferred

 

TRAVEL:

  • Travel is required for the position 10% of the time
