SCOPE OF POSITION:

A Food Scientist to perform food product development work to meet established project objectives in the Birdseye team.  This position will report into the Sr. Manager, R&D.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct food product formulation and lab testing using recognized procedures
  • Interprets results and develops an understanding of how to translate to possible solutions
  • Conduct trials at pilot plant and production facilities
  • Writes technical reports and maintains accurate and complete technical records
  • Learns and utilizes the online specification system
  • Complete all commercialization activities scaling up prototypes to deliver consistent products at the factory
  • Works in collaboration with cross functional team members

Qualifications

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of Food Product Development experience
  • Experience developing sauces, frozen sides and meals is preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in the areas of ingredient functionality and food formulation.
  • Experience in testing or commercializing food products at manufacturing plant.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information
  • Experience in operating lab and pilot equipment
  • Strong technical/analytical skills
  • Ability to interact with others in manufacturing, lab, and office environment
  • Good time management and multitasking skills
  • Computer skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

 

EDUCATION:

  • B.S. in Food Science or equivalent

TRAVEL:

  • Travel 25-40%
