The Senior Manager of External Manufacturing (EM) Procurement is a leader who is viewed as a key member of the Procurement and External Manufacturing teams. This person is part of a team that will work on a key area of development for Pinnacle Foods--developing and executing the Sourcing Strategy for our External Manufacturing base.



  • Provides Procurement management for our EM network.
  • Assists in creating the sourcing strategy that will drive Pinnacle Food’s ability to leverage our EM network to reduce cost and drive innovation without trading off on quality or service.
  • Accountable for supplier optimization process and ensures successful contract execution.
  • Develops and executes the Procurement strategy that supports EM strategy, as part of the overall Manufacturing Network Strategy, and is aligned with key partners like R&D, commercialization leads, etc. The Strategy in this space needs to be dynamic enough to capture opportunities coming from make vs. buy analysis, supply base consolidation, set up overflow capacity solutions to alleviate internal capacity constraints and support speed to market for NPD.
  • Builds platform to effectively work with Manufacturing/ Marketing/ R&D to identify and match business needs with supplier capabilities to drive strong business partnerships through supplier challenges, relationship development and through sharing of the business priorities and innovation capabilities within supply industry.
  • Track and report on performance measures such as service level compliance, quality conformity and cost. Benchmark performance between various suppliers and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Works on financial planning including developing pricing forecasts and budget assumptions to meet financial planning calendar and has accountability for productivity and cash flow contributions.
  • Maintains strong linkages with stakeholders in External Manufacturing, Manufacturing, R&D, Commercialization and other Supply Chain functions to ensure alignment on goals and directs their respective activities accordingly.



  • Six to ten years of progressive CPG Food or Beverage experience. Other similar industries or consulting backgrounds are applicable as well.
  • Manager for a sophisticated manufacturing company who has demonstrated experience in the areas of responsibility described and track record in managing these functions.
  • Leading and managing teams; demonstrated/developing capability in developing talent and achieving their goals.
  • Proven track record in delivering on cost savings targets
  • Confident leader, results oriented and solution driven with strong supply chain strategy acumen
  • Ability to influence, collaborate and interact with numerous levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage across many functions of the business including Finance, Commercialization, Quality & Marketing
  • Experience with Strategic sourcing process, including strategy definition and implementation and leading contract negotiations
  • Experience with using E-sourcing tools to manage projects, contracts, RFX, and reverse auction, and to perform linear decision analysis;
  • Creating performance reporting tools, identifying performance metrics and developing scorecards to track progress
  • Developing business acumen.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
  • Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity and change of direction


  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • MBA or graduate-level management degree would be a plus.



  • May or may not have direct supervision over a team of professionals.
