Responsibilities

SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Category Leadership Manager will work collaboratively with the Director, Category Leadership, and Sales leaders on the Kroger sales team to provide actionable consumer and category insights that allow us to excel in the categories in which we compete.  The individual will utilize syndicated data tools, customer POS, and consumer data to develop customized presentations and day to day insights supporting executable shelving, merchandising, assortment, and retail pricing (SMART) objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and present strategic category management insights and selling stories that meet retailer objectives, while supporting the selling initiatives, growth and share objectives of Pinnacle Foods.
  • Utilize IRI Panel, Nielsen AOD, VendorNet/ ShopperView and other consumer centric data tools to build customized selling stories and opportunities for our brands, on an everyday and seasonal basis.
  • Develop ad hoc and weekly/monthly POS/ syndicated reporting on Pinnacle brands and categories.
  • Identify measure and quantify market trends and opportunities. Present and share insights with our internal sales organization (Brand, Trade Marketing, Customer Planning, Sales) and retail customers. 
  • Support in-depth category reviews for Category Managers, and manage broker/shelf technology and Insights resources, as appropriate, in support of reviews and Category Captainship responsibilities.
  • Contribute to innovation sell-in by customizing national new item launch materials. Develop compelling customer specific materials that address the shopper and the competitive marketing area.
  • Proactively develop insights to aid Sales in selling expanded distribution, gap fill opportunities, improved shelf merchandising and new promotional opportunities for our brands.
  • Provide post promotional analysis for key events, including recommendations on price point and merchandising effectiveness, with the goal of improving category and brand event performance/lift.
  • Provide coordination and support for customer Top To Top/ Joint Business Planning presentations.         

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years Category Management/ consumer products industry experience – preferably with food experience in the Midwest/Great Lakes marketplace.
  • Face to face sales or buyer experience is a plus.
  • Technical skills: highly skilled in Excel and Power Point.  Database knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Syndicated data and customer POS (Nielsen/AOD, VendorNet/Shopper View data).
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful professional with practical experience and understanding of consumer insights and category management principles.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize under pressure.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

TRAVEL:

  • As needed for customer appointments
