SCOPE OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for developing the Shopper Marketing strategy & assisting in the execution of shopper marketing programming.   All programming will be aligned with overall business goals, marketing strategies and key messaging.   The SMM will coordinate these programs with the brand teams and sales organization from developing key shopper insights, program ideation to execution and reconciliation to ensure we are investing in the most efficient and effective manner.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Consumer Insights, Field Sales, Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing & Category Management (and mines relevant data) to develop the insights that can drive brand equity
  • Assists the Field Sales force in developing programs within key customers
  • Oversees all execution elements (e.g. budgeting, creative approval)
  • Work collaboratively with Brand Managers and Customer Marketing Managers in the Field and HQ locations to drive Shopper Marketing programs inclusive of obtaining brand creative assets, estimating costs, coordinating meetings, obtaining coupon codes, etc.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure financial rigor in areas including coupon codes, reconciling invoices, redemptions, actual costs, etc.
  • Maintain Shopper Marketing Program Snapshots for all key customers and coordinate Post Promotional Analysis
  • Ensures alignment with various vendors (digital, social etc.) and presents relevant information to management
  • Responsible for managing Shopper Marketing creative agency
  • Develops turn-key Toolkit (approved template) materials for 2nd & 3rd tier customers when appropriate
  • Manages and leads status calls with field and Shopper Marketing agencies

Qualifications

CAPABILITIES:

  • Self -starter, independent thinker, action oriented

  • Detail orientated, organized, reliable, resourceful and accurate professional that focuses on outcomes

  • Ability to contribute, influence and work effectively in a cross-functional matrix environment
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Ability to build team alignment relative to specific objectives

 

SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES:

 

  • Technical skills: highly skilled in Excel and Power Point.  Database knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of customer POS sources (Retail Link, Spectra and IRI data)

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess 7+ years Shopper Marketing or Consumer Promotion experience in CPG retail environment , preferably in corporate HQ location
  • Direct customer engagement experience required (via shopper mktg, customer development or category management) and coupon redemption experience a plus.
  • Experience mining data from retailer shopper card programs (for example Dun Humby and EYC) a plus.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
