SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Senior Manager Logistics Procurement will be the leader for the Strategic Sourcing of Transportation, Warehousing, and other Logistics Services purchases for the company.  Partnering closely with our Logistics organization this leader will set an overall sourcing strategy and ensure successful and efficient execution of that strategy.  He/she will ensure proper supplier selection, drive competitive bidding whenever possible and practical, and negotiate goods and services for the highest quality, lowest total cost, and superior performance.  He/she will be a strategic thinker, and an individual capable of managing complex tasks independently while working with and supporting many stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Establish a close partnership with the Pinnacle Logistics team to understand the total Logistics budget and projects required to meet that budget.
  • Develop and execute an effective strategic sourcing plan which enables efficient sourcing and contracting in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage effective communication of requirements, and compliance to our procurement policy with the Pinnacle Logistics team.
  • Create processes that provide linkages between Logistics and Direct Material Procurement processes (transportation costing, inbound savings, etc.).
  • Understand the marketplace for suppliers of transportation, warehousing, and logistics services; determine the appropriate strategy to partner with the best suppliers at both a national and local/regional level to improve both supplier quality and cost.
  • Develop and implement a Supplier Relationship Management program to transform our relationships with key suppliers and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Manage strategic sourcing events, negotiate supply agreements and contracts.
  • Working closely with the Logistics Finance team, successfully document and articulate savings and other value-added benefits to the business.
  • Continually improve our internal processes in working with internal stakeholders, Legal, and suppliers.

Qualifications

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • The successful candidate will have extensive experience and expertise in the procurement of logistics, transportation, warehousing, and related goods and services.
  • Must be experienced in strategic sourcing and have a proven background of successful strategy implementation.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders to comply with appropriate Procurement practices.
  • 5 to 7 years of strategic Procurement experience.
  • 3 to 5 years in the food or other related consumer products industry.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Strong leadership and people skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • “Hands On” management style.
  • Able to effectively interface with all levels and departments within the organization.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or other related field is required; Master Degree is preferred.

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will not have direct reports.

 

TRAVEL:

  • Estimated 25% travel to Cherry Hill, NJ location (where Logistics team is located); could be more based on business need.
