SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Plant Manager will lead a fully reconstructed plant, with new equipment, new leadership team, and producing an expanding frozen food product line.  This position requires a proven business leader with strong capability of managing multiple projects simultaneously, and high capability of partnering with several functions and levels of the organization during the testing phases leading to the commissioning of the production line. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of food manufacturing within a manufacturing facility.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Experience in leading a plant through transitional projects (i.e. retro-fit equipment, new equipment / processes) is preferred
  • Experience partnering with internal and external engineering resources during the course of building construction and equipment installation projects is preferred
  • Capable of utilizing a large project group to their advantage to gain greater perspective on current processes and equipment; and be able to implement the key learning’s while equipment installation takes place
  • Ensure manufacturing plans that align with overall company Objectives and Goals.
  • Develop a leadership team to create a pipeline of talent in the organization
  • Execute the Continuous Improvement Playbook to improve across all metrics on People, Safety, Quality, Service, Sustainability and Costs
  • Safety
    • Reduce DART, RIR, and eliminate Lost Time Injuries
    • Improve overall Safety Audit, eliminate any OSHA identified issues
    • Foster a value system of safety down to the frontline, execute Behavioral Based Safety Program and assure we hold sacred our Safety Absolutes
  • Quality
    • Reduce CCR Rate
    • Eliminate Product Losses due to bad First Pass Quality
    • Maintain oversight responsibility for all programs associated with food quality and food safety
    • Improve Quality Audit score and assure no Recalls or Withdrawls
    • Build brand quality through compliance to specification, HAACP and OMT programs.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Delivery
    • Deliver the plant case attainment to 100% and Schedule Adherence to 85%
    • Improve individual Plant %OOS as well as Network OOS
    • Create production cycle strategy to reduce inventory levels (Full Goods and Raw Materials)
    • Proactively identify opportunities, and communicate issues early
  • Costs
    • Over-deliver Conversion Cost Financial Plan and Achieve 2:1 cost leverage on volume
    • Eliminate waste in facility (yields, downtime, WIP, overhead, etc)
    • Improve OEE and Labor Efficiency
      • Improve operational equipment efficiency by:
        • Improving First Pass Yield
        • Reduce Equipment Downtime
        • Improve Change Over times (Package and SKU)
        • Improve Sanitation Time without comprising Quality
      • Improve Cases Produced / Labor Hours
        • Improve line crewing
      • Improve Sustainability Metrics
    • Execute the CI Playbook across the organization to deliver 5% in Productivity Initiatives Annually
    • Execute capital plan to enable 20 – 30% ROI Annually
    • Improve Facility Stewardship Standards
    • Define 5 Year Strategic Plan

 

Qualifications

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 10 years of Operations Leadership (management) experience in a complex, fast paced manufacturing environment, required
  • Management experience in a food manufacturing environment or food products industry, including familiarity with SQF Systems, preferred
  • Experience with statistical analysis and practical application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) on the shop floor, required
  • Experience leading continuous improvement processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience driving business results in the areas of Employee Safety, Product Quality & Safety, Environmental Compliance, Customer Service and Cost
  • Experience developing and executing against operating budgets and capital plans, within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading the development and successful implementation of complex projects in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading and working with a diverse group of people
  • Good understanding of MRP and production planning process

EDUCATION:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • Master’s in Business Administration, or equivalent, preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position provides direct supervision to plant operations management, as well as direct or indirect supervision to plant support department management.

TRAVEL:

  • There will be approximately 15% travel required for this position
