The Mgr, Consumer Insights –Foundation & Frozen will be responsible for providing a full breadth of marketing research support for the category team’s s/he supports. S/he will serve as the CCI, category team lead on the Foundation Category Team, being an active member of its cross-functional team, responsible for helping to determine and influence strategy. Responsibilities will include ownership of the Foundation Team’s insight strategies, plans, and the execution of those plans. S/he will also assist the Director Consumer Insights, Frozen, and will lead marketing research initiatives for brands such as Birds Eye, Birds Eye Voila, and Hungryman.   To accomplish the requirements of this position the incumbent must have mastery of in the use of primary, secondary, and syndicated research information.  The incumbent uses this mastery, in combination with detailed knowledge of the brands and marketplace, to develop meaningful and actionable business insights.  The measure of the value of these insights is their ability to help build the business in terms of volume, share, and profitability.




  • Primary Business Partner representing Consumer and Customer Insights for the Foundation Category Team, driving consumer insight into all strategic considerations and brand activities.
  • Lead the development of Consumer & Customer Insight strategies and plans for the Foundation Category Team and ensure the effective execution against these plans.
  • Assist CCI Director, Frozen in addressing Frozen business issues with the development and execution of marketing research, and the effective and persuasive communication of results, implications, and recommendations.
  • Operate as an essential member of the Consumer and Customer Insights Team and the Broader Marketing Team.
  • Provide thought leadership to the Foundation and Frozen Cross-Functional Teams regarding the consumer, customers, the economic and marketing environment, with an active role in determining and influencing strategy.
  • Assist in driving Organizations understanding of External Environment and ensuring relevant trends are driven into appropriate Project Agendas..
  • Assist in the Brand Planning Cycle, partnering with the brand team to build the Situation Assessment, integrating multiple data sources to identifying SWOT.
  • Monitor key brand performance measures: volume, share, penetration, frequency, equity, identify key business drivers and facilitate activation against improvement against any issues.
  • Ensure the appropriate cost/value relationships in the data acquired, the research executed, the analysis performed. Drive Insight to Activation.
  • Represent the Voice of the Consumer with full mastery on how to identify and deeply understand brand target consumers to drive stronger connection to our brands and build brand foundations (Vision, Mission, and Strategic Pillars.)
  • Conduct strategic studies and higher level analytics to better understand the category and competitive environment and optimize spending decisions.
  • Steward for all testing practices and protocols supporting Innovation Pipeline development, Product Commercialization and Renovation.
  • Ensure the capture of brand/category knowledge and creation of institutional knowledge.
  • Support other Pinnacle functional areas (finance, investor relations, etc.) in addressing business issues through the combined use of primary and syndicated data.





  • Blended market research capability: syndicated and custom; consumer and shopper.
  • Strong analytic capability with ability to understand and manipulate multiple data sources to identify insights.
  • Excellent communications skills: Oral, Presentation, Written, Interpersonal.
  • Adaptable – ability to tackle competing priorities resourcefully.
  • Able to interact effectively with cross-functional partners and influence across levels.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity, with a drive toward identifying actionable insight.
  • Completely blended market research capability: primary research, syndicated analysis and higher level analytics.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data from multiple data sources and summarize into key implications.






  • Understand the retail CPG industry, with emphasis on food products (frozen and dry).
  • In depth knowledge of custom and secondary research, data, and analytic vendors and their capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of marketing concepts, tools, applications and evaluative methods.
  • Creative and insightful analyst.
  • Ability to identify key leverage points and set priorities accordingly.
  • Ability to effectively manage third party (supplier) resources.
  • Understanding the Insight needs of other functional areas: finance, sales, logistics, R&D, investor relations.





  • Minimum 6 years of marketing research/CCI experience with heavy concentration in foods or packaged goods. Experience with a major packaged goods manufacture strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the packaged goods marketing practices
  • Hands on experience with the full range of custom research techniques, analytics and syndicated information.






  • Undergraduate degree essential.
  • MBA/MA strongly preferred.
  • Relevant majors: Marketing, Marketing Research, Psychology, Anthropology, Economics, or Statistics.
